Global Reference Network GPS and GLONASS Assistance Data

Carrier-grade reference network supporting all location platforms.

Overview

The GPStream GRN™ service provides mobile network operators and location based service providers with a highly reliable reference data feed to support Assisted-GPS and Assisted-GLONASS servers.

Because it is used extensively by carriers for E-911 service, GPStream GRN has been designed with quadruple redundant views of each satellite and is delivered from carrier-grade, geo-redundant data centers.

As a result of long standing technical partnerships, GPStream GRN is compatible with all major server vendors including Ericsson, Andrew Corp, Qualcomm, and Nokia-Siemens Networks.  For custom requirements, a public API is available.

Subscription licenses are available either directly from Rx Networks or from approved solution partners.

Features & Benefits

Global Coverage

By using a worldwide network of GNSS receivers, GPStream GRN provides coverage in every region. Both GPS and GLONASS are supported, with planned expansion to other constellations as they become commercially viable. Satellite Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) are also planned to be supported in 2012.

Cost Optimization

GPStream GRN can be scaled from the smallest of Location Based Service applications to large scale carrier deployments in accordance with your needs and budget.

Reliable

GPStream GRN comes with a 99.999% service level agreement and is relied upon every day for emergency and other critical applications.

Extensible

GPStream GRN is the backbone of a suite of assistance data solutions from Rx Networks which collectively provide standards-based AGPS, extended ephemeris for handsets, and hybrid positioning using cell tower and WiFi observations in addition to GPS/GLONASS. These solutions are deployed by mobile network operators, mobile device vendors/OEMs, and semiconductor vendors.

GPStream GRN Editions

The GPStream GRN interoperates with most leading infrastructure vendors and as such, is available in several different editions.

Standard Edition (incl. NSN, CSR, Polaris):

This version supports standard RINEX format over SFTP (SSH FTP) access. It is compatible with Nokia Siemens Networks’ PDEs, CSR (formerly SiRF) SiRFLoc PDEs, and Polaris Wireless.

Full Edition:

This real-time version supports native Rx Networks interfaces and includes virtually any type of A-GPS or A-GLONASS assistance messages over most transport protocol options.

Ericsson Edition:

This version is compatible with Ericsson PDEs and accessed over HTTP.

Andrew Edition:

This version is compatible with Andrew Corps.’ Geometrix PDEs over HTTP.

Qualcomm QPoint Edition:

This version is compatible with Qualcomm’s QPoint servers (i.e. SnapTrack) and is accessed over multicast VPN. QPoint systems are offered by Qualcomm and its licensees (including HP, NEC, ZTE, and Celizion).

Supported AGPS Data Elements

GPStream GRN™ aligns with 3GPP TS44.031 RRLP specifications to provide virtually any combination of AGPS data elements for C-Plane and SUPL PDEs, or for custom applications.  Service feeds deliver over native GPStream or proprietary formats.  Supported file-based or real-time transport protocols include RINEX, UDP, TCP/IP, sFTP, HTTP and multicast.
